CAST OF CHARACTERS

Aethelfrieda
(played by Alex) - level 2 Priest (witchcraft) - Enchantment, Life and Curse traditions
Insanity: 1 - Corruption: 2

A young human female refugee who wishes to become a witch. She’s in contact with Ezekia who is considering whether to apprentice her or not. A point in favour would be the the coven of Crossings is now broken and requires a third member. .
There used to be three witches but one went rogue and was executed by the Inquisition, thus breaking the Coven that requires three members, not two (also contributing to the distrust of witches in town). The other witch is an old, eccentric one that has no fixed address and cannot be found unless she wants to.
An over-zealous deputy of Inquisitor Randolphus, Kane, is keeping an eye on Aethelfrieda and her comings and goings from Ezekia’s house. This might get worse when she actually joins the witch path. Currently she dresses in non-descript rags.
I asked Alex to come up with a story of what happened with the rogue:
“I like the idea of witches becoming evil because that's what people fear they are. I think that the Inquisitor's deputy (Perhaps named Kane? Names aren't my strong point so suggestions please!) harassed the witch that's gone - breaking into her home, turning the place over looking for incriminating evidence, breaking the furniture because he thinks witches must be bad. All this then got so out of hand, and escalated so far, that the witch lashed out; turning one of the inquisitor's men into a toad, or burning him up in one of the darker spells of witchcraft. This then led to her arrest and execution - and the breaking of the coven. So far Ezekiah has been left alone, because of her role on the City Council; and the third witch has no fixed address - she finds you, you can't find her (maybe its a spell?).”

Will
(played by Sarah) - level 2 rogue
Insanity: 0 - Corruption: 0

A bright green goblin belonging to the largest tribe in town, Sewer, which lives in a dry, unused area of the sewers under the hillside south part of Grievings. He has a bit of a dark past (murderer profession, released a demon in the world which is still at large) but a sunny disposition, is very curious about the Spires, and is quite exercised about some young agitator goblins (the Sunshine Boys) rabble-rousing and claiming that goblins deserve to live on the surface in nice houses like the humans etc. etc. Will is a traditionalist and cannot understand what’s wrong with a nice, cozy sewer tunnel.
The other goblin communities apart from Sewer are Bridge (there’s a bridge of boats over the stream of tears in Tankards, and the massive pile of garbage that gets trapped there is inhabited by goblins), Float (a floating raft of discarded bits of wood and furniture, with a small population of goblins and rats) and the Goblin Circus (which travels and isn’t always around).

Brass
(played by Robert) - level 2 magician - Forbidden, Demonology and Technomancy traditions
Insanity: 1 - Corruption: 7

A small clockwork spider made of pewter. Robert wanted it to have the soul not of a normal person, but of an evil sentient spider creature plotting the demise of mankind and sent to Crossings to steal technological secrets.
We initially agreed that there is a hidden enclave of these spiders once human but turned into their present state by terrible dark magic in the time of the degenerate Men of Gog (maybe they were descendants). They are human-sized, low magic and low tech and talk in a disturbing, chattering version of Dark Speech. Later we found a race in the Demon Lord Companion, the Arachna, which fit Brass perfectly.
Brass has been posing as a janitor at the Academy of Engineers (luckily his clockwork body and knowledge of Common conceal his identity). Nobody suspects, except a mad drunk in Grievings, Cassius, who once pointed at him and started shouting “The spider! The spider! He wants us all dead!. Nobody paid any attention because Brass is shaped as a spider after all, and Cassius is crazy, but Brass knows that he KNOWS. Brass dreams of building a construct or even a clockwork, one day, and of course to find a way to steal precious tech to further the spider people’s evil agenda.

Simmouri Hornfeet
(played by Terry) - level 2 - priest of the Honored Dead (Earth)*
Insanity: 0 - Corruption: 0

* GM Note: There is a discrepancy between the core rulebook, where the dwarven religion is called Dwarfen Ancestors and has the associated traditions Battle, Earth and Life, and the Uncertain Faith book where it is called Honored Dead and has Battle, Life and Rune. We houseruled that it is called Honored Dead and that it has all four traditions to choose from.

An unusually good looking and clean dwarf who - to the horror of any dwarf who sees him - prefers to be clean-shaven. He hates orcs because they destroyed his community, but otherwise he’s not a typical dwarf; he is very scholarly and well read and prefers to keep his nose in books and scrolls rather than fighting and drinking. He works as a librarian at the city library and is occasionally in contact with the old mage Caribdus to procure dwarven texts.

Sumaya
(played by Guy) - level 2 rogue
Insanity: 1 - Corruption: 0

A young changeling girl (about eight years old). She lived a secluded life with her father Sir Tiberius in a comfortable house in Redemption, not far from Grievings, then she discovered by accident about her true nature and fled. She ended up in Fey and may have found out more about her origins but she currently has no memory or it. She woke up at home feeling much calmer and talked to her father who said that he always knew of her true nature and loved her regardless. He also insisted that she study occult, especially protection magic, but these studies were interrupted by current events. Before we started the campaign Guy explained that Sumaya's father was up to no good (possibly a criminal or evil magus) and appears to have met a dark fate; that she believes that he loved her unconditionally but that reality might prove to be different.
